London Assembly
Nigel Bakhai is the Liberal Democrats’ candidate in the London Assembly constituency of Ealing & Hillingdon, where he lives and works.
Nigel lives in Hanwell, where he is the chair of his local residents’ association, the Hanwell Steering Group. He is the Vice-Chair of the Governing body at Greenfields Children Centre in Southall. Nigel stood as the Liberal Democrat candidate in Ealing Southall at the last general election, and was the party’s candidate in the Ealing Southall by-election last year. On both occasions, he reduced the Labour majority and pushed the Conservatives into third place.

Ealing residents are represented on the London Assembly by five Liberal Democrats who cover the whole of London: Dee Doocey, Sally Hamwee, Geoff Pope, Graham Tope and group leader Mike Tuffrey.
The Liberal Democrats’ London-wide “top-up” list for the 2008 London Assembly election consists of Mike Tuffrey, Dee Doocey, Caroline Pidgeon, Jeremy Ambache, Geoff Pope, Ben Abbotts, Stephen Knight, Shas Sheehan, Duncan Borrowman, Monica Whyte and Merlene Emerson.
Parliament
Local councillor Jon Ball, who has represented Ealing Common since 2002, is the Liberal Democrats’ parliamentary spokesperson for the new constituency of Ealing Central and Acton, which only requires a small swing to move from Labour to the Liberal Democrats.
Jon has been campaigning against a third runway at Heathrow and to improve local schools and health services for residents.

Local Council
The Liberal Democrat group on Ealing Council is led by Cllr Harvey Rose, who represents Southfield ward. Liberal Democrats in the borough have been campaigning to keep staffed ticket offices at stations like Chiswick Park and West Acton, working with London Assembly Member Geoff Pope, and against the Ealing Skyscraper (you can sign the petition online here).
