London Assembly
Merlene Emerson is the Liberal Democrats’ candidate for the London Assembly constituency of West Central, which covers Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster. She is campaigning to cut crime, improve public transport and make housing affordable.
Merlene was born in Singapore and came to London in 1979 as a law student. She worked at a leading City law firm before retraining as a mediator and working as a community mediator in the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. She has three sons and regularly fundraises for the charity Save the Children. Merlene is also a trustee of the legally-aided Chinese Welfare Trust.

Hammersmith and Fulham residents are represented on the London Assembly by five Liberal Democrats who cover the whole of London: Dee Doocey, Sally Hamwee, Geoff Pope, Graham Tope and group leader Mike Tuffrey.
The Liberal Democrats’ London-wide “top-up” list for the 2008 London Assembly election consists of Mike Tuffrey, Dee Doocey, Caroline Pidgeon, Jeremy Ambache, Geoff Pope, Ben Abbotts, Stephen Knight, Shas Sheehan, Duncan Borrowman, Monica Whyte and Merlene Emerson.
Parliament
Norsheen Bhatti is the Liberal Democrats’ parliamentary spokesperson for the new constituency of Chelsea and Fulham.
Originally from Birmingham, Norsheen has lived in London for ten years. She is a law gradudate and has also recently worked with the national Newspaper Publishers Association and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Sarah Ludford is the Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for the whole of London.
Hammersmith and Fulham Liberal Democrats are campaigning to boost recycling in the borough, and to improve our local environment with cleaner streets and fly-tipping and graffiti dealt with more quickly. They want to see better action taken against anti-social behaviour, more visible policing and the boosting of Neighbourhood Watch and the Safer Neighbourhood Scheme to cut crime.
