London Undeground incapable of managing labour relations
March 28th, 2008
Trade unions the RMT and TSSA have announced a 72 hour tube strike from 6:30pm on April 6th to 6:30pm April 9th.
Liberal Democrat Mayoral candidate Brian Paddick responded with disappointment to this news of future disruption for passengers and contrasted his own record of labour management in the police with London Underground’s problems:
“What this clearly demonstrates is the need for route and branch change of London Underground, who are clearly incapable of efficiently managing labour relations and the underground.
“In my two and a half years as Borough Commander of Merton I had the most successful performance of any borough in London and no grievances or tribunals.
“It is possible to successfully manage a workforce and deliver an excellent performance. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.”
